Transforming a 500+ Page Website

A Digital Overhaul

HopSkipDrive is an US based tech company solving the biggest challenges in school transportation through their unique platform that connects kids, older adults or anyone else in need with caregivers behind a wheel - so ensuring their website was search-optimised, intuitive and results-driven was key. We were looking at a website with over 570 pages, 400+ blog posts, and countless moving parts, all needing to be redesigned, restructured, and relaunched—without disrupting day-to-day operations. A pretty intricate task with high stakes.

First, we needed to lay the foundation. For such a large site, we recommended Next.js on Netlify, while Contentful was selected as the content management system to form a high-performance tool built for speed and scalability. Beyond the tech though, the sheer volume of content added some complexity: numerous content collections and component types with thousands of interconnected elements. Think of it like relocating an entire library and at the same time refreshing, reorganising and optimising it for a new digital era. 

Fast And Intuitive 

One of the most exciting parts was adding new functionality that would make the site not only prettier, but smarter. So instead of just rebuilding, we reimagined.

We installed an intelligent blog search that’s fast and intuitive: Type a keyword and get an instant and accurate response - like that friend that’s always in the know. For location-based services, we created a system that automatically generates and updates pages for different cities to accommodate for state-specific information. To ensure users always see the most relevant content, we also implemented dynamic related articles, integrated career pages, and sophisticated form handling—creating a seamless, highly personalized user journey. 

These are just a few examples of the ways we used simple logic for a big impact. Every move or change - however small - was designed to work in harmony with each other, forming an intuitive connection between the user and the content. 

Now, here's where things got really interesting. Moving over 400 blog posts wasn’t a simple copy-paste job. Our two-step process was to move the content while enhancing it to preserve every nuance, structure, and intent while optimising for a fresh, modern experience. We even took advantage of AI, and generated meaningful descriptions for images site-wide, making the site more accessible and SEO-friendly in the process. 

The Launch

Launching this project was like orchestrating any flawless production - so every cue and transition had to be smooth, smooth, smooth. To prepare, we started with rigorous testing, ran repetitive checks and planned for any potential wrong-goings - just in case - and set the page live with flying colours. 

A Smooth Handoff

After, we wanted to make sure that our client could make the most of their new website and its capabilities. We started with comprehensive training sessions, taking the team through their new CMS, and guiding them how to efficiently handle content updates and improve user flows. Following the sessions we continued with daily support, addressing questions and troubleshooting any issues, while compiling step-by-step video tutorials for a quick and easy reference. A hands-on approach that eased the client in to take full control of their new digital platform - while knowing extra help was always within reach.
